Stitch Fix December 2015: My Longest Stylist Note Yet!

This month has to be a record for the longest stylist note I have received.  I'll post a picture below. This month I asked for colored denim (I'm pretty sure that they are never sending this to me), a blanket scarf, and a fringe necklace.

Here's my stylist note in case you are interested:

And here's what I got:

1.  Romolo Montana Metal Starburst Fringe Necklace $34

I'm undecided on this one.  I've been asking for a fringe necklace (I really like some of the Stella & Dot ones) but I don't know how much I will actually wear it.

2. Octavia Beau Fringe Infinity Scarf $34

I really like this one.  It's super comfy and a no brainer to tie since all I had to do was slip it over my neck and done!

3. Market & Spruce Ivy Split Neck Print Blouse $58
4. Kut from the Kloth Maribel Distressed Straight Leg Jean $88

I hate mid rise jeans.  They hit me in the exact spot that give me rolls on top and right underneath the waistband.  Yuck!  Plus, I've had a really hard time selling my other pair of KFTK jeans so these will definitely be returned.  This top was entirely too tight in the chest and I can't stand the print on me.

5. 41Hawthorn Abrianna Longsleeve Knit Cardigan $48

This is the perfect burnt orange color for my football team (the Auburn Tigers) and is really comfortable.  Just not sure that it is flattering on me.  Seems to make my hips look wider?  Not sure what to do here.

Fun Bunco Wine Glass for the Winners' Gifts

Hi Bunco babes and divas!  So I'm in a monthly Bunco group and when it was my turn to host, I needed to come up with the prizes for the winners.  I found something similar to this on Pinterest so I decided to make my own version.  I had some adhesive vinyl left from some other projects so I created the text and then used the square and circle tools to make the dice in my Silhouette software. I'm including links for the files if anyone wants to download (you have to download from the link before opening in Silhouette software) and use them instead of reinventing the wheel.  The circles on the Bunco Babes website are for the polka dots.  Let me know if you like it :)

Turning a Dresser into a TV Console

I found this dresser on a FB garage sale site.  I paid a little more than I wanted to, but I love how it turned out.  I found a light mint green at Sherwin Williams and then made my own chalk paint (see here for recipe) and finished it off with some dark wax detailing.  I cleaned up the old hardware (directions here) and I took out the top drawer and had my husband make a shelf for the cable box.  See below for some additional after shots.

And here's the finished product in the room.  I'm in love!

DIY Tulle Tutu

Hi readers!  Instead of paying a hefty price on Etsy for a tulle tutu ($30 + shipping) that my daughter is only going to wear for pictures, I decided to make my own.  It's super easy, requires no sewing, and is cost efficient.

Here's the price breakdown:

2 rolls of Tulle = $5.98 (2.99 each at Joann's or Old Time Pottery)

Crochet headband = $2.00 (I paid $2 for one but can get MUCH cheaper wholesale)
_________________________________

Total max price: $7.98

I found really good directions for knotting the tulle here: http://tripletsplustoddler.blogspot.com/2014/07/diy-tutus-and-high-chair-skirts.html

It was so easy that I ended up making a Snow White Halloween tutu costume as well.

I used a kitchen canister to hold the headband in place while I tied the tulle.  Basically you cut strips for double the length you want it plus about 1 inch (to account for the knot).  Fold the strip in half, feed the folded end through one of the holes in the headband so that you have a loop, stuff the other end through the loop and pull through (seriously there are really good pictures and directions on the link above).

Here's a picture of her wearing it for Halloween:

This tutu turned out so cute for our 1st birthday photos!

Hanger to Home: A Small Handful of Keepers

I had really high hopes for this box but fit issues kept me from purchasing more.  I was kind of disappointed that I didn't receive any bottoms.  Oh well!  Here's what I got.

1.  I liked the pattern on this shirt but it was just to big for me.  Returned.

2.  Nothing really special about these earrings so I returned them as well.

3. & 4.  I kept this blouse (like I really needed more black).  I liked the neckline though as it was different than other black tops that I have.  I also really liked the necklace so I kept it too.

5.  The color of this blouse was really pretty but it was way too tight in the chest.  Returned.

6.  Cute necklace but didn't really think I would wear it often.  Returned.

7.  I asked for something pink to wear for my daughter's birthday party and they tried to deliver.  Just the wrong color pink and too tight.  Returned.

8.  I kept these earrings too.  Surprisingly I don't have any like these and the baby can't pull them out.  Win Win.

9.  I came very close to keeping these too, but I returned the dress so sent back.

10.  I asked for no dresses but got this one anyway.  Returned.

Jamberry Stylebox Classic: Lacquer Surprise!

Hi readers!  I'm a huge Jamberry fan and have been receiving the Style Box since I like a surprise.  This month I was really intrigued by the "lacquer surprise."  Unfortunately, the lacquer I got is so dark that the black nail wraps that came with it don't show up.  I haven't tried it with the white ones yet.  Probably going to just save this lacquer for my toes.  Enjoy!

Stitch Fix September : Almost a Home Run

Another month of Stitch Fix and this one was so close to being a 5/5.  I couple of the tops were snug and just a little off.  Here's what I got:

1.  Just Black Dean Skinny Jeans in red ($78)
LOVE everything about these.  They look super cute and I hope I get a lot of wear out of them.

2.  Alice Blue Ranier Scoop Neck Blouse ($48)
I like this until I saw the picture.  It scream "Charlie Brown" and unfortunately that's all I see now.  Verdict: Returned.

3.  41Hawthorn Lana Lace Detail Blouse ($58)
Really pretty but was a little snug in chest.  Also, I really don't have anywhere I can wear this right now as it's a little too dressy for everyday wear.  Verdict: Returned.

4.  Bay to Baubles Fringe Necklace ($34)
I previously indicated that I didn't like the chains hanging on fringe necklaces and wanted one with bars.  Somehow that feedback was lost as I got another chain one.  The chains tangle easily and look/feel cheap.  Verdict: Returned.

5.  Shiraleah Fringe Clutch ($48)
Initially I wasn't too sure about the color, but I kept since I don't have any white bags.  I figure when the fringe goes out of style, I can always trim it down with scissors and have a plain white clutch.  Should make it a staple.

That's it.  Until next month...

Hanger to Home: Not Bad for a First Box

So I really didn't NEED to try another subscription box, but this one was just too tempting.  I kept a few things and will probably give them another try.

No personal notes like the other styling services though ;(

Outfit one:  The top was way too small and cut weird and the jeans were just ok (I liked the Just Black ones in another outfit better).  Not a huge fan of the earrings either.  Returned the full outfit.

Outfit 2:  This dress had real potential but I couldn't even get it on for a picture.  Way too small.

Outfit 3: Dress and necklace.  The shape of this dress was really weird and made me look extra wide. It also hung really low in the back.  The necklace was ok but I already have one almost exactly like it.  Both returned.

Outfit 4:  I was really town on the top, but since it's long sleeve I will almost never wear it here in Florida.  The Just Black destroyed jeans I LOVE!  Keeping for sure.  Returning the necklace and blouse.

Outfit 5:  Kept this t-shirt and Just Black jeans again.  I came super close to keeping the cross body clutch, but since it's diaper bag city around here I had to return.  There was also a really ugly necklace that was paired with this in the other pic below.  Not my style at all, but love the casual outfit.

Outfit 6:  This dress didn't flatter at all and the bracelet wasn't anything special.  Returned both.

I forgot about this necklace paired with the orange dress that didn't fit.  Not my style at all so returned.

That's it.  Until next time.
